How to Prepare for an Appraisal
1. Confirm access.
2. Let us know how to get in.
That’s it! Given the resort nature of the area, most appraisal assignments we complete are for second homeowners. Just let your point of contact know we will be in touch, and we can take it from there.
Our Processor, Sarah Lawrence, handles all scheduling and will work with your homeowner service, rental company, complex manager, (or whatever point of contact or access method you provide) to arrange access for the appraiser. If you have the property on a vacation rental program, we will schedule the appraisal between bookings. There are some great homeowner services and rental companies in this area, and we have been coordinating access this way for more than 18 years. Manage the property yourself? Even better. Just let us know the door code, garage code, lockbox, etc.
While we prefer you turn on the lights, clear out cobwebs, and get the bears out of the backyard, it’s not a necessity. Appraiser, Amber Woodruff, has seen it all and can plan accordingly. That said, if you want an interior appraisal make sure the interior is accessible (as- in driveway plowed to park in and a pathway shoveled to the front door).
